Listservs
A listserv is an e-mail discussion on a particular subject (click here for a more detailed overview of listservs) . Participants must first subscribe to the listserv by sending an e-mail message to a subscription address.

Liszt Select: Arts / Literature / Writing: A site where you can subscribe to listservs on fiction, poetry, non-fiction, lesbian writing and other topics related to creative writing.

Colt-u: A listserv dedicated to undergraduate discussions of comparative literature.

Delito: A multilingual discussion group on cyberart, literature and societies

Motherdaughterbooks: A listserv designed to promote reading and sharing literature between mothers and daughters.

s99-1701: A listserv dedicated to writing about literature.

Listservs Associated with The Electronic Poetry Center: Listserv discussions topics here range from Beat Generation Poets to Creative Writing in Education for Teachers and Students.

Book_Arts-L: A listserv out of Syracuse University focusing on discussions of bookbinding, printing, library curation, and general interest topics relating to book production, distribution, and appreciation.

Hypermedia Theory Mailing List: A listserv centered on the discussion of hypertext theory.

Newsgroups
A News Group is discussion forum in which participants link to a site where they can post comments and reply to the comments of others.  "Moderated" Newsgroups require participants to apply for membership in a newsgroup.  The links to moderated newsgroups below link to "join" pages where those wishing to participate may apply

writing_web_text: A moderated newsgroup focusing on the influence of technology on writing.

Wild Poetry Newsgroups: Unmoderated newgroups on various poetry and the composition of poetry.  Discussion topics include sacred poetry, lyric poetry, and epic poetry.

writers_cafe: A moderated newsgroup designed for creative writers to join a community of writing, get feedback on their own writing and "test out new ideas."

workingwriters: A moderated newsgroup for published writers to share everything except critiques.
 
write-stuff: An unmoderated newgroup dedicated to those who like to write science fiction or fantasy literature.

rec.arts.int-fiction: An unmoderated newgroup featuring discussions about interactive fiction.

voices: A moderated newsgroup designed for writers to receive and provide feedback on their own writing.

rec.art.books: An unmoderated newsgroup featuring discussions about all genres of books and the publishing industry in general.

amateur-writers:  A moderated newsgroup designed as a forum for sharing creative writing and getting feedback on it.

bestsellers: A moderated newgroup for the discussion of best-selling books.

writers-ink: An unmoderated newsgroup for "serious writers."

writers-write: A moderated newsgroup is a forum for younger writers to participate in enjoyable writing exercises with their peers.

romancewriting: A moderated newsgroup dedicated to discussing contemporary and historical romance writing of unpublished and published authors.

warpoets: A moderated newsgroup in which discussion centers on Wilfred Owen, Sigfried Sasson, and others poets from World War I.

storyteller: A moderated newsgroup dedicated to people who love to hear and tell stories, including fiction, folklore, non-fiction, and mythology.

rol: A moderated newgroup which serves as an "online book club for female members."

rgarfield: An unmoderated newsgroup in which participants practice creative writing exercises and critique each other.

poemshare: A moderated newsgroup designed as "a kind, supportive place to share poems and poetry talk"

inkwell: A moderated newsgroup in which writers are encouraged to share their work support and support each other.

fem: An unmoderated newsgroup for the sharing of women's fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and journals.  Erotic stories are permitted.
 
cybertales: A moderated newsgroup specializing in the CyberTales Ezine and issues of cyber-fiction.
